Transport compliance audits Manchester

Find the weaknesses before DVSA or the Traffic Commissioner does

An independent audit of the systems, records and day-to-day practices supporting your Operator Licence.

The service

What the work is designed to achieve

The audit is not a paperwork-only exercise. It tests whether the documented systems are active, whether staff understand them and whether the evidence demonstrates real management control.

Typical scope

  • Operator Licence details, undertakings and changes
  • PMI planning, inspection quality and brake testing
  • Daily checks, defect reports, rectification and VOR
  • Driver licence checks, CPC, induction and training
  • Tachograph, drivers’ hours and working-time controls
  • Management reviews, actions, complaints, incidents and evidence

How it works

A clear process from first review to practical control

01

Scope the audit

Agree locations, vehicles, sample periods and any known concerns.

02

Test the evidence

Sample records and compare written procedures with actual practice.

03

Grade the findings

Separate immediate licence risks from amber improvements and good practice.

04

Issue the action plan

Provide clear ownership, target dates and evidence requirements for each action.

Common warning signs

Reasons to act before the problem becomes formal

One warning sign does not automatically mean the whole operation is failing. Repeated signs, missing evidence or weak management response deserve prompt review.

Inspection intervals are missed or moved without explanation

Brake performance is not adequately evidenced

Defects are reported but rectification cannot be traced

Licence checks and training dates are managed informally

Tachograph infringements are signed but root causes remain

The same audit actions appear month after month

Questions about compliance audits

What operators commonly ask

What does the audit report look like?

The report provides an executive summary, Red-Amber-Green findings, supporting observations and a prioritised corrective-action plan.

Is this a DVSA Earned Recognition audit?

No, unless explicitly agreed through an authorised audit provider. MV provides independent operator compliance audits and readiness reviews; the scope is explained before work begins.

Can you audit only one problem area?

Yes. A focused review can cover maintenance, drivers’ hours, licensing, FORS evidence or another defined risk area.

Will you help implement the actions?

Yes. Implementation can be quoted separately or included within an ongoing consultancy arrangement.

Do you work only in Manchester?

MV is based near Manchester and supports operators across Greater Manchester and the wider North West. ETM appointments depend on travel time, availability and the requirements of the specific licence; audits and project work can be delivered across a wider area.
