ALLMI Appointed Person support

Lift planning built around the load, equipment and real site conditions

Practical lift plans, risk assessments and safe systems of work for lorry-loader operations within the agreed scope of competence.

The service

What the work is designed to achieve

A useful lift plan must reflect the actual vehicle, lorry loader, accessories, load, ground conditions, radius, exclusion zone and site constraints. Generic paperwork is not a substitute for proper planning.

Typical scope

  • Equipment and configuration information
  • Load details, weight, centre of gravity and lifting points
  • Radius, capacity, accessories and setup
  • Ground, outrigger and exclusion-zone considerations
  • Sequence of operation and communication arrangements
  • Supporting risk assessment and safe system of work

How it works

A clear process from first review to practical control

01

Collect the lift information

Confirm the vehicle, equipment, load, site and proposed method.

02

Assess feasibility

Review capacity, radius, setup, accessories and site constraints.

03

Prepare the documents

Produce the lift plan, risk assessment and safe system of work.

04

Brief and control

Ensure the plan is communicated and changes are reassessed before the lift.

Common warning signs

Reasons to act before the problem becomes formal

One warning sign does not automatically mean the whole operation is failing. Repeated signs, missing evidence or weak management response deserve prompt review.

The load weight or centre of gravity is uncertain

The drawing does not match the actual site

Outrigger loads and ground conditions have not been considered

Accessories or lifting points are not confirmed

The driver is expected to improvise on arrival

The scope changes but the lift plan is not reviewed

Questions about allmi appointed person support

What operators commonly ask

Do you attend every lift?

Attendance depends on the complexity, risk and agreed scope. Some plans can be prepared from verified information; others require a site visit or further competent input.

Is a lift plan the same as operator training?

No. A plan does not replace trained and competent operators, suitable equipment, pre-use checks or site control.

Can you prepare a generic plan for repeated work?

A standard plan may be possible where the equipment, load and site conditions genuinely remain within defined limits. Variations still need to be assessed.

Do you use the term HIAB?

The preferred generic term is lorry loader. HIAB is a manufacturer name and may not describe every item of equipment.

Do you work only in Manchester?

MV is based near Manchester and supports operators across Greater Manchester and the wider North West. ETM appointments depend on travel time, availability and the requirements of the specific licence; audits and project work can be delivered across a wider area.
